When you think of springtime, maybe the words “fresh” and “airy” come to mind. That’s because this season is often associated with newness as we leave the winter behind us.
If you’re ready to adjust the louvers on your custom wood shutters and let the bright sunlight pour into your home, we’re sharing three ideas you can use to “spring” into a new season.
Deep Clean
Deep cleaning before updating the decor of your home from season to season is a good habit to get into. Though you might clean every day, you’d be surprised how dust and debris collect in obscure places throughout your home. Take some time to deep clean the rooms of your house to create a blank canvas for you to decorate. If you need some spring cleaning project inspiration, we have four ideas to get you started.
Get Organized
According to Goodwill, the average American wastes 55 minutes a day (that adds up to 12 days a year) looking for things they need but simply can’t find. That statistic alone is a motivator to use the beginning of a new season as an opportunity to declutter and get organized.
Here are some tips to consider:
- Decluttering your home can feel like an overwhelming task at first glance, but focusing on one room at a time can make this chore feel more manageable.
- Get rid of what you don’t need. This step is often the hardest, but to truly declutter our homes and get organized requires us to let go of the items that no longer serve a purpose. If you’re having a hard time letting go, consider hosting a garage sale or donating the items to local charities.
- Whether it’s vertical storage options, baskets, you name it, finding proper storage solutions that neatly store your items and reduce surface clutter is always a good idea.
Great Outdoors
The transition from winter to spring is a great time to bring your outdoor area to life. Spring is the peak gardening season and it’s the perfect time to prepare your garden beds and continue to plant seeds for summer flowers such as Calendula, marigolds, sunflowers, and zinnias.
In addition to your garden, prepare your patio as well (we shared five ideas in a previous blog post) as the spring temperatures in Southern California typically range from 67.1 degrees Fahrenheit to 84.8 degrees Fahrenheit. These temperatures are excellent for enjoying your outdoor living space!
