When you purchase a product with a “Made in the USA” logo on it, you should feel a sense of pride. Buying American-made products, like Avalon Shutters, allows companies to continue to innovate and create the highest quality products.
What is “Made in America?” According to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) website, “all or virtually all” means that “all significant parts and processing that go into the product must be of US origin. That is, the product should contain no — or negligible — foreign content.” “Assembled” or “built” in America is not the same claim.
Here are three reasons to consider buying domestically-made products vs imports.
- Foreign labor standards allow unsafe working conditions in many countries. When you buy made in the USA products, you support, not only American manufacturers but also American workers, safe working conditions and child labor laws.
- Other countries do not have the type of environmental restrictions on emissions and other pollutants that we do in the U.S. so the manufacturing of those products could be causing greater damage to the environment and the people working in their facilities. Current technologies allow manufacturing processes in the US to lean toward cleaner, renewable and eco-friendly practices. If we invest in American-made products, we can be sure that we are doing our part to contribute to a cleaner environment for our generation-not to mention the generations to come.
- The term “Made in the USA” speaks of quality, excellent craftsmanship and a superior product. Continuing to use foreign imports gives no guarantee of quality. Companies that manufacture products in the U.S. have full control of the process from the materials being used to the way products are being constructed. This complete oversight over the manufacturing process results in a quality product that cannot be matched by outsourcing.
Avalon Shutters is proud to be a manufacturer of an American made product. We control all four phases of the supply:
- Commodities (raw lumber, materials and components)
Avalon makes the shutter products we offer and install… We have total control over the manufacturing process which makes us vertically integrated. Since we don’t use other sources, we have the ability to control every aspect of production – this means we have complete control of our quality.
